At the moment I am traveling and living with various friends and family, discipling and encouraging and talking about fundraising. I will be moving to Chicago, Illinois by January 1st, 2004, to live with Jesus People USA. There I will be living and eating free of charge with hundreds of other believers in the Jesus People commune.

In exchange for my living expenses, I will be working full-time in one of the many ministries they have in Chicago, most likely a homeless shelter or a nursing home. Then on my own time, I will be going out with whoever God sends with me (we can’t leave the building alone because of the area we live in)- and I’ll be doing street ministry, talking to the homeless, the street kids, the gangs, the tourists.

I believe strongly that the gospel of Jesus Christ is powerful, and needed, but that you must show people the love of God and take care of their needs before you preach to them. Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. [James 2:15-17]

Officially, my financially supported ministry work won’t start until January 1st, 2004. But Jesus has been working in amazing ways, setting up divine appointments, and the ministry is already underway. I have committed myself to “religion” full time. Not the religion of the world- with closed doors and laws and rejection of people- but the religion Jesus taught. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. [James 1:12]

With that in mind, and with your help, I plan to be the hands and feet for those that can’t leave their jobs, families, and responsibilities behind to go to Chicago, or Mexico, or wherever there is need. In the past I have been blessed with a job so that I could send others, and bless others, and now it is I that am being sent, and beingblessed.
If you would like to donate to this growing ministry, whether in prayer time or financially, please let me know so I can send you updates via email or letter. The suggested amount is 1 hour of prayer every two weeks, (that’s 4 ½ minutes a day) / $30 a month ($1 a day). But feel free to donate as much or as little as you feel led to.

Sometimes when I tithe I’m embarrassed because a tenth of the money I have for the week is so little. I tithed a quarter a few weeks ago. But I know that it’s still a blessing to God that I give. I feel the same way about your help. No matter what amount, it is a huge blessing and encouragement to me.

While I’m in Chicago I won’t be needing this money for living expenses, although some of it may go to things like a phone card, or stamps, or socks, etc. Anyone who asks can receive a detailed expense account, to see what their donation is being used for. And any checks made out to Love Your Face Off Ministries or L.Y.F.O. Ministries will be designated ONLY for ministry work. I am opening two separate checking accounts. Any checks made out to Haley Zuvanich will be used primarily for ministry; but also occasionally for personal needs. The reason I am asking for support now is because- a) I feel led to, and whatever the reason, I am going to follow God’s will and timing {it does make perfect sense, being 6 months from the approximate date I move to Mexico, when I will need a fully established support team} and b) Read the verses in red over again. I plan on giving, and serving others- building relationships with them, not just handing out a tracts and a smile and walking away. I plan to take the homeless people I meet out to dinner. I plan to buy clothing and food and school supplies for kids and adults that are in real need. I plan to help people get on their feet, with rent down payments, Bibles, taking care of bills people can’t meet, paying for gas so someone can drive to their job. All kinds of things. I’m excited that I’ll be able to serve. I want to include you in this calling God has placed on all of us- to love one another. It’s an incredible thing, to be able to help someone, and see the peace and the comfort that a meal or a paid bill or shoes for their kid brings.
